How It Works

WHAT IS BREADCOIN?

A PHYSICAL TOKEN

Breadcoins are physical
coins to ensure everyone
is included.

Each Breadcoin is valued at $2.50 and redeemed at participating locations. It provides the recipient with the dignity of choice. The coins are put into circulation when an individual or organization purchases them (1) to use themselves to destigmatize hunger, (2) to create a mobile food event to make sure everyone is included at the table, or (3) to give to a family or individual so they can choose when and where to get a prepared meal.

A RESOURCE FOR NONPROFITS

Nonprofit community partners distribute coins and host events.

Breadcoin continues to expand to more neighborhoods and new cities. Each year, we discover new and innovative ways for the community to come together around food. Last year, nonprofits used Breadcoins to create mobile food events in underserved communities. Schools use Breadcoins to provide food for their students and their families during school breaks. The uses of Breadcoin for feeding and gathering people are practically endless.

Breadcoin is proud to collaborate with local community partners that have been serving their neighborhoods for decades. The Breadcoin token provides these local partners with a food budget to provide a meal to those in need, and Breadcoins can be used as incentives for students or clients, or simply to bring people together. You can point those you serve to our participating restaurants when they need a meal or you can use the coins to host events (always more successful when food is served!).

INCOME FOR FOOD VENDORS

Local businesses accept
the Breadcoin as a form
of payment.

Each month, a Breadcoin representative will stop by participating locations to redeem Breadcoins. They will count the number of Breadcoins being redeemed and record the redemption electronically on their phone. Each Breadcoin is redeemed for $2.50. Breadcoin is using Bill.com to directly deposit the money into the business’ bank account.

A TOOL FOR MOBILE FOOD EVENTS

Food brings the
Community Together.

Breadcoins are used by non-profits, schools, and churches to create food truck events with a festival atmosphere where everybody can be included. Please keep these things in mind when creating a mobile food event.

A SEAT AT THE TABLE

We set tables in the
community where
everyone is welcome.

Breadcoin works with local congregations to create pop-up community meals at beautifully set tables in parks and parking lots. The events are located proximate to our participating vendors or catered by Breadcoin vendors in an area of our community that needs some love. A 2-hour event, volunteers show up early to set up the tables and invite the community, during the event they serve the food and host the tables, and at the conclusion of the event tear down the equipment.
