A group of Spanish students at Messiah University in Mechanicsburg, Pennsylvania, recently put their language skills to work for Breadcoin, helping us make information about our program more accessible to Spanish-speaking communities.
As part of Professor Gladys Robalino’s upper-level Spanish course, students translated a Breadcoin video script and additional materials into Spanish. Their work will help more people understand how to use Breadcoin to purchase meals and make it easier for Spanish-speaking restaurant owners and food vendors to participate in the program.
“Breadcoin is about giving everyone a seat at the table — we want no one to be excluded by language,” said David Vader, Messiah professor emeritus and Breadcoin regional coordinator in Pennsylvania.
The collaboration was recently featured in The Bridge, Messiah University’s magazine, which explores how students are using their language skills to make a difference beyond the classroom.
“We know that school is hard, but these students are making a real impact right now,” said Dana Staley, Breadcoin’s Director of Finance and Operations.
