“There is something special about breaking bread together, face to face at a table. Facades come off, walls are broken down, things go to a deeper level in conversation.”

That spirit was at the heart of Breadcoin’s recent Flash Table at Wilkens Avenue Mennonite Church in Baltimore, where neighbors gathered around a common table and everyone was welcome.

Over 20 volunteers helped serve more than 130 plated meals throughout the evening. What began as a shared meal quickly became something more: conversations between strangers, stories exchanged across tables, laughter, and moments of genuine connection.

Flash Tables are built around a simple idea: dignity and belonging matters. Volunteers do not simply hand out meals. They sit, serve, listen, and share the table together.

A huge thank you to our volunteers, whose care and hospitality helped make the evening possible, and to D & B Deli for providing the delicious meal served that night.

We also asked volunteers to reflect on what the experience meant to them. Watch the video below to hear their stories and why serving at the table mattered to them.
