Music filled the air, the smell of fresh food drifted through the crowd, and long lines formed at the booths as people decided what to try next. Breadcoins changed hands throughout the evening as friends and families explored the incredible variety of food on offer. It was a celebration of community in every sense.

Breadcoin PA was proud to join Young Professionals of Color in celebrating Juneteenth at A Taste of Black Harrisburg, an event showcasing Black-owned food businesses from across the city.

Throughout the evening, we distributed more than 800 Breadcoins, including free Breadcoins for the first 100 guests and discounted Breadcoins available all night. It was exciting to watch people discover local vendors, try new dishes, and experience how Breadcoin supports both neighborhood businesses and community food access.

A heartfelt thank you to Young Professionals of Color for organizing such a fantastic event and to our participating vendors Coda Rouge, Men in the Kitchen, Homemade Soul and Caribbean, That Cupcake Lady, and Sweet T and Greens for sharing their amazing food. We’re also grateful to our volunteers and everyone who stopped by to learn more about Breadcoin.

One of the highlights of the evening was introducing Chris “Handles” Franklin, Head Coach of the Harlem Globetrotters, to Breadcoin and sharing how the program connects people, supports local businesses, and gives neighbors the dignity of choosing their own meal.
